Christmas recipes and mushroom gift guide!

Happy December!

It's hard to believe 2024 is almost at a close! I have a fun gift guide and a couple extra fancy recipes for you guys to finish out the year!

Stuffed Mushroom Dip

This is what I will be making for Christmas Eve. We always have a big party with Josiah’s side of the family with lots of snacks and treats. The kids act out the Christmas story and we exchange gifts. It’s always a good time. I love stuffed mushrooms, but oyster mushrooms aren’t very stuff-able. And let’s be honest, I don’t love stuffing all those little mushrooms, so I’m glad to just make a dip and enjoy all the cheese-y, mushrooom-y goodness with much less prep work!

Mushroom Wellington

Okay, I definitely haven’t made this but it just looks so fun and Christmas-y that I had to include it. Mushrooms and puff pastry are a masterful pairing and the flavors in the recipe look perfect.

Mushroom-Lover Gift Guide

You should still be able to get most of these items in time for Christmas!

  • Lion’s Mane Tincture

This specific tincture may not arrive in time for Christmas, but I wanted to link to this one because we really love and trust Mossy Creek Mushrooms. There are several other high quality tinctures on Amazon if you need it by Christmas. Look for one that is triple extracted and uses the actual fruit body.

  • Philosopher Tea

My Friend Natalie from Gnat and Bee makes this tea and I adore it. It’s a dark and moody black based tea that features chaga mushrooms, peppercorns, and barley. It’s really yummy! Order by December 16th to receive by Christmas!

  • Tea Towels/Books/Stickers

Speaking of Gnat and Bee, if you go to the physical store in Loudonville, Ohio there are all kinds of adorable mushroom-themed cute things. Tea towels, foraging notebooks, stickers, and pencil bags to name a few of them. I wish I had a photo to show you just how cute these things are. If you’re shopping for someone who is into the mushroom “aesthetic” Gnat and Bee would be a great stop!

  • Cute Mushroom t-Shirt

    This is just cute!

  • Mushroom Home Grow Kit

Give the gift of the experience of growing mushrooms at home! These kits are super fun and pretty fail-proof! Great for the person who has everything.

  • Mushroom Cookbook

Fun cookbook with great reviews on Amazon Prime!

Mushroom Fact

Mushrooms are best enjoyed cooked!

“The cell walls of mushrooms can be difficult to digest; they might even give you a tummy ache, or more severe intestinal distress if eaten raw. Mushroom cell walls contain chitin, the same polysaccharide that makes the hard outer shells of insects and crabs. Chitin and other components of the cell wall can be made more digestible by cooking. A little heat not only can avert a potential tummy ache but also helps release the many beneficial nutrients locked inside the cells.” Cathy Scott, Chief Science Officer at Everything Mushrooms
